This project will really start coming together soon. Some of the next steps will be tricky. I'm not sure how much trouble the leather interior I've added will cause. From what I understand the final assemblies barely fit as it is. Did I reduce enough material in the right places?
I think I'm not going to do extra detailing on underside. This car will be too heavy to flip over anyway.
This model has an odd assembly sequence. This is the middle section of the body joined to the rear section. This will get set aside for awhile now while other sections get assembled.
Not the paint color, the spray can is for scale.
There's these two "wing" sections, left and right, of the back seat. The fit on these I've been especially worried about which the addition of leather. The part as provided, on the right here, shows the pre-attached seat belt and a little bump above it that is supposed to be a light. This is a great example of where large scale cars lack detail. It's molded in? What do these people have against a separate part there and calling for a little glue? It's a quarter inch across! I ground off these bumps and added leftover clear pieces from another kit. I applied metal foil to the back for a silvery look. Not great, but far better. At this scale, the light should actually function.
The two side pieces are here installed in the rear body section to either side of the back seat back. The fit turned out well. I estimated where and how much to reduce the parts correctly, that's a relief!

Secondly, looking ahead in the instructions I realized that the seatbelt does not attach to anything. There's no buckle, and no other end to it. What you see in this photo is literally all there is. For that matter this configuration, mounted to the sides like this, isn't even correct according to photos of real cars. Some have an anchor and the buckle there on a short lead only. Some have the retractable part of the seatbelt in the side panel. Most have a completely different arrangement, or no seatbelts at all. After I took this photo of the parts I removed the "seat belt" entirely. Lack of detail is one thing, flat out wrong is another.
