Image via WikipediaYes, it turns out that there is a limit on how long an email address can be. According to RFC-2821, section 4.5.3.1, the part before the '@', the "local-part" can be up to 64 characters. The part after the '@', the "domain-part" can be up to 255 characters.
So, including the '@' character, an email address is allowed to be up to 320 characters in total.
In other fascinating trivia, according to RFC-2822, section 2.1.1, the maximum line length in an email is 998 characters, excluding the CRLF.
So watch it.
