Trumpeter Ford GT40 1/12 Scale, Part 3

There's a boatload of these fittings in this kit. Seriously, there must be 30 of them.

I got a bunch of hose clamps in PE as another add-on for this project. They're pretty convincing I think.

I added rubber tubing and slipped the hose clamp over. It's quite a bit of extra work, but worth it.

You can see the above hose clamps here on the front of the engine.

I also replaced the kit's part for the pulley and belt with separate components and a watch gasket. This is a huge improvement over the clunky one-piece part the kit came with. Unfortunately most of this will not be visible in the end.

I agree with an observation about this kit that I have seen in reviews. Overall the model is very detailed, but a few areas are surprisingly under done, almost as though they were not completed. The engine is one of those areas. I have seen more details on 1:24th scale model engines. Still, it's not hard to improve it with a little custom work.
