Agora Models Shelby Cobra in 1/8th Scale, Part 3

 

The dashboard as supplied is black plastic with ready done silver details. I decided I would not be able to recreate the silver as well as it was, so I masked it with old Rodico (a putty used in my watchmaking work).

I painted and matte coated the dash, preserving the silver details.

I might mention at this point that the plastic used in kits like this is not polystyrene. For some reason, they typically use some sort of PVC. This might be what allows the heavy coloration. But the main point is that the types of glues used by modelers will not work on this stuff. 

Tamiya makes a PVC cement that works well. But I rarely had to use it.

The wire in the lower part of this photo goes to a switch on the dash that will toggle the headlights.

Not bad.
